Welcome to I belive God

Read Acts 27:25. We should be just as confident about what God has spoken in the scriptures as Paul was about what God spoke to him by that angel!

Let us continue our study of the expression ”I BELIEVE GOD”

Here are some things that God has said: (and I believe God.)

11. We are saved by grace.

” …By grace ye are saved… and ” For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Eph. 2:5,8-9).

Note: Salvation is not of ourselves. It is the gift of God. It is not of works of the law of Moses or the works of man’s devising. If it was, man could boast about it!

Of course salvation is by grace but not by grace ONLY or by grace unconditionally! There are conditions that must be met!

12. We are saved by Faith!

(See Heb. 11:6; Jhon 3:14-18; 3:36; 5;24;20:30-31 ; Acts 16:30-34; etc.)

Although salvation is by faith, it is not by faith ONLY! It is also by grace! See above. Also see James 2:14-26

13. Repentence is essential to salvation.

Jhon the baptist and Jesus while on earth in person preached that sinners should repent.

See Matt. 3:1-2; 4:17; Luke 13:3,5. In Acts2:38 Peter said: ”Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall recieve the gift of the Holy Ghost.”

In Acts 17:30-31 Paul preached that God ”Commandeth all men every where we repent” in veiw of the resurrection and judgment. Yes, repetence is necessary to salvation!

14. Baptism saves us!

1 Peter 3:20-21 says: ”When once the long suffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.

The like figure whereunto bapitisim doth also now save us (not the putting away of the fifth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ.”

Read carfully the following passages and be impressed with the truth they that teach.

Mk 16:-15- 16; Acts 2:36-41; Rom. 6:3-6, 17-18: 1 Cor. 12: 13; Gal. 3:24-27

Yes, baptism saves us but we are not saved by baptism ONLY!

I believe God that it is and that it shall be as He hath spoken above and in all other inspired scriptures!

Do you?

(1 Kgs.11-12) (Concluded)

Jereboam, king of Iseral, rebelled against Rehoboam who was king of Judah. He became a ring leader in sin. He instituted a new and modified religion. He knew God’s way but did not follow it.

Although Jereboam understood God’s will in these matters:

Although God was the true object of worship, Jereboam made two golden calves and set them up as objects of worships!

Although God’s will was that the Iserelities go to the house of the Lord in Jerusalem to do sacrifice, Jereboam set the calves in Bethal and Dan to enable the people to worship there.

Let us continue our study of Jeroboam’s Religion.

3. HE CHANGED THE TIME OF WORSHIP (For the feast of Tabernacles)!

God had ordained concerning the feast of tabernacles that it be observed at a certain time. He had said unto Moses ”Speak unto the children of Iseral, saying, ”The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the feast of tabernacles for seven days unto the Lord.” (Lev. 23:33-34).

Although king Jereboam knew what God’s will was, he ” Ordained a feast in the eighth month on the fifteenth day of the month, like unto the feast that is in Judah, and he offered upon the alter.

So he did in Bethal, the priests of the high places which he had made. So he offered upon the altar which he had made in Bethal the fifteenth day of the eighth month.

Even in the month which he had devised of his own heart; and ordained a feast unto the children of Iseral: and he offered upon the altar, and burnt incense.” ( 1 Kings 12:32-33.)

Although they may know the will of God concerning a matter, many people change the time of worship from God’s will to theirs.

For example, God has taught us by example, and necessary implication that the Lord’s supper should be observed ”Upon the first day of the week.” The early disciples continued steadfastly ”In breaking of bread.” ( Acts 20:2:42 ).

The day that the disciples ”Came together to break bread” was ”Upon the first day of the week.” (Acts 2:42). The day that the disciples ”Came together to break bread” was ”Upon the first day!

That is how often true disciples assemble to break bread! That is one act of worship that is to be done in the assembly on the first day of the week!

To illustrate the necessary implication: if you borrow money from a bank and you are told that a payment is due the first day of the month, how often and when is your payment due? Do you understand that a payment is due on the first day of every month? Of course, you do! Please be fair as you consider the word of God!

Another act of worship that Christians are commanded to do on the first day of the week is to ”lay by him in store, as God has prospered him.” Let see when this is to be done. In Cor. 16:1-2 Paul declared ”Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even do ye.

Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.”

The laying by in store ( giving of one’s means ) is to be done ”Upon the first day of the week.”

Although the word of God teaches that the Lord’s supper is to be taken ”Upon the first day of the week.”

Many people have changed the time of this act of worship to any day or night they choose.

Like wise, although God’s word teaches that the Lord’s supper should be served every first day of the week many have changed the frequency of the observence of the Lord’s supper from every first day of the week to doing it annually, semi annually or quarterly or whenever they decide they want to do so!

Many have also changed the time for christians to lay by in store from the first day of the week to any day of the week they desire to do it and only as frequently as they desire.

God had ordained that those of the tribe of Levi would serve as priests under the law of Moses. No one else was authorized to serve as priets. ( See Exo. 21; Lev. 23:33-34; Numbers 1:47-53; 3:5-10 Deut 17:-9; though this was God’s will, notice what King Jeroboam did as recorded in 1 Kings 12:31-” And he made an house of high places, and made priets of the lowest of the people, which were not of the sons of Levi.”

The NKJV says: ”He made shrines on the high places, and he made priets fro every class of people.” Also see 1 kings 13:33-34.

It is abundantly clear that Jeroboam changed the priesthood!

In Rev 1:5-6 we can see that all Christians are priets it says ” Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, And hath made us Kings and priets unto God and his Father.”

1 Pet 2:5 shows that Christians constitute a ”holy prietshood.” It says: ”Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy prietshood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.”

Although every true Christian is a priests, the religious world as a whole has changed the prietshood that God ordained. They have made a special class of those who constitue their priesthood.

The same thing in principle is done when any religious group have two distinct classes of people among them that they recognize as the ”Clergy” and ”Laity.” The ”Clergy” are given flatering titles such as ”Father,” ”Holy Father,” ”Reserved,” ”Righteous Reverend,” ”Most Righteous Reverend,” ”Rabbi,” etc.

This is sinful! Jesus said that the scribes and phariees loved ”greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi. But be ye not called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and ye are brethren.

And call no man your father upon the earth:for one is your Father, which is in heaven. Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ. But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.” (Matthew 23: 7-11). Also see Job 32:21-22

What are some of the Results of Jerboam’s Religion?

1. It was contray to God’s law!

2. God called it sin and evil! (See 1 Kings 12:30; 13:33-34; 14:7-10; 2 Kings 17:21-23; etc)

3. God dissapproved of it and sent a man of God out of Judah to Bethel to condem the false worship! (See 1 Kings 13:1-5)

4. The house of Jeroboam was to be cut off and destroyed from the face of the earth, and it was! (See 1 kings 13:33-34; 14:7-10; 15:29-30)

5. It provoked God to anger! ( see 1 Kings 15:29-30; 14:-7-10)

6. By his false religion Jereboam made Iseral to sin! (See 1 kings 14:14-15; 15:29-30.)

7. God gave Iseral up because of the sins of Jeroboam! (1 Kings 14:16)

There are many man made religions today. All of them are contrary to God’s will! They are evil and sinful! God condems false worship today like he did in Jeroboam’s day!

Those who devise false religious cause others to sin. No doubt, false religions provoke God to anger!

There are many gods and lords, but to us there is but one true God the Father and one true Lord Jesus Christ. (See Eph. 4:4-6; Col 1:18) Read carefully psalms 127:1; Matt 16:18-19 1 Cor 3:11 Matt 15:7-14:2 Tim 1:13; James 1:25;2:12, etc

Don’t provoke God to anger like Jereboam did!
