They do NOT believe that alien sinners MUST DO ANYTHING in order to enter into the kingdom of heaven! They are teachers of FALSE doctrines!
Jesus warned of false teachers! He is our pattern! We, too, should warn others of false teachers! Jesus Christ is our pattern!
Is Jesus Christ your pattern in reality? He should be
Welcome to resist the devil.
To resist means to oppose.
James told Christians ” To resisit the Devil and he will flee from you.” ( 4; 7 ). In veiw of this we have the responsibility to resisit Satan.
There are some things we should not resisit. Here are some of them examples listed below.
1: The wisdom of God
Libertines, Cyrenians, Alexandrians, and those of Cilica and Asia who disputed with Stephen.
” Were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake. ” ( Acts 6:10 )
Since they disputed with one who was ” full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom ” ( See Acts 6:5 , they were trying to reisit the wisdom of God.
2: The holy spirit. In addressing some Israelities in Acts 7:51,
Stephen said; ”Ye stiff necked and uncircised in heart and ears, ye do always reisist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.”
Although they should not have done so they reisited the Holy Spirit.
3: Truth. In 2 Tim. 3:8
Paul said; ” Now as Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth men of corrupt minds, reprobate concering the truth. ”
Those men were resisting the truth that was able to save their souls.
4: Ordinance of God, In speaking of civial power.
Paul said: ” Whosoever therefore reisith the power, resiseth the ordinance of God; and they that resit shall receive to themselves damnation.” ( See Rom 13: 1 – 2 ).
5 Evil in MT. 5:38 -39
Jesus read; ”Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for ah eye, and a tooth for a tooth: But I say onto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right check, turn to him the other also. ”
This shows that we must not resist evil with evil. We must not take revenge. We must not violate any principle of righteoussness in our efforts to overcome evil.
We must not take revenge. We must not violate any principle of righteousness in our efforts to overcome evil.
( Also read Rom. 12:17; 1 Thess. 5;15 ).
We should resisit the devil !
Earlier we read James 4:7 that says:
” Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” Speaking of the devil, Peter said, ”Whom reisit steadfast in the
wrong is always wrong
In our previous study we showed the Scriptures that wrong is always wrong.
We pointed out the following:
wrong is wrong even though most people accept it !
wrong is wrong even thou you don’t get caught !
wrong is wrong even thou it may give a person pleasure !
wrong is wrong although someone does it for someone else !
wrong is wrong even thou a person thinks it’s right !
wrong is wrong although it is done in anger!
Some people try to justify wrong by saying, ” I can understand why he did it. He was angry. ”
In Numbers 20 : 1 -12 We have a record of the illiterates condending against Moses and Aron because there was no water to drink.
The Lord said unto Moses, saying, ” Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou, Aron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall bring forth his water out of the rock; so thou shalt give them congregation and their breasts drink. ” ( V . 8 ).
Instead of Moses speaking to the rock as God commanded, he smote the rock twice with his rod and an abundance of water came out.
However, because Moses disobeyed God ( he did not speak to the rock, but to the people and he smote the rock he was not allowed to enter the land of Canaan.
We learn from psalms 106:32 -33 that. ‘
‘ They angered him also at the waters of strife, so that went ill with Moses for their sakes: Because they provoked the spirit so that he spoke unadvisedly with his lips. ”
The fact that Moses was provoked or incited to anger did not justify the wroung that he did. He disobeyed God and he had to suffer the consequences for that action.
Today, a person may be angry at his employer for some reason, but that does not justify the person from stealing from his employer, or holding something he owes his employer in anyway. ( See Eph.4:28 : Rom . 13:8 -10 : Eph 6: 5 -8 ).
A person may be angry because his neighbors goats got out and came over and ate up his flowers, but that does not justify the person doing wroung toward his neighbor, ( See Rom 13:8 -10 )
A husband may be angry because his wife neglected her duties as a wife, but that does not justify the husband in abusing and beating his wife. ( See Col 3:19: Eph 5; 25-33:1 Pet 3:7).
A wife may be angry because her husband drinks, curses, and steals but that does not justify the wife in leaving and or divorcing her husband.
A number of preachers may tell her that she can scripturally do so but none of them will produce the scripture that teaches such. ( Read Rom 7: 1-3 : Mark 10:2 -12: Luke 16: -18, Mt. 19: -3-9; 1 Cor 7; 10- 11 ).
A person may curse and swear because he is angry, but that does not justify his sin. (See Eph. 4;29; Col 3;8; Mt 5; 33- 37; James 5; 16).
In Eph 4;26 the apostle Paul said ”Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath”
Although we may get angry we should never sin because of anger. The NASV says, ” do not let the sun go down on your anger.” Our anger is should be short lived.
wrong is wrong even though it is done to please others.
It is obvious some people think it is all right to do wrong in some instances if they do wroung in order to please others.
However, such is not the case. The motivation to do a thing may be good or evil, but that does not change the act or deed itself.
If an act or deed is wrong within and of itself it is still wrong regardless of the purpose for which it is done.
In Gal 1;10 Paul said; ”For do I now persuade men or God? Or do I see to please men, I should not be the servent of Chrisit.” (Also read 1 Thess 2; 4; 4;1)
If I go contrary to the will of God and please men it is obvious that I am not a true servent of Jesus Christ. Let us keep in mind that wroung is always wroung regardless of why it is done.
Resisit the Devil
(1 Peter 5; 9 )
Without a doubt we are told to resist the devil. There is a need to resist the devil because he is a are adversary and he is walking about, as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devor. ( See 1 Peter 5; 8 ). We must not allow him to decieve and devour us.
”How can we resist the devil?”
We can resit the devil by appealing to the word of God when we are tempted. In Mt 4; 1- 11; Mark 1 ; 12-13 and Luke 4;1 -13 we have the accounts given of the temptation of Jesus by the devil. In response to each of the temptations. Jesus appealed the word of God.
He said; ”It is written ” or ”It is written again.” and then told what is written again” and then told what is written.
After the third appeal to the word of God we are told that ”Then the devil leaveth him, and behold, angles came and ministered unto him.”
He is our example and we should follow his steps. (Cf . 1 Peter 2 ;21).
The psalmist declared to the Lord: ”Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” (Paslms 119:11 ). In time of temptation we should appeal to God’s word.
We can resisit the devil by watching and praying. In the garden of Gethsemane Jesus exhorted His disciples to ”Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation.” (MT. 26:41).
Luke tells us that Jesus said: ”Pray that ye enter not into temptation.” (22;40).
Watching involves being on the alert, being on guard, giving strict attention to, being cautious, active.
The apostle Paul said; ” Therefore let us not sleep as do others; but let us watch and be sober.” ( Thess. 5:6; also read Acts 20:31: Rev. 3:2;
I adversary who is seeking to devour us, it is imperative that we watch! We must be aware of his schemes in order to successfully resist them.
Praying as we should will help us to resit the devil. In Col 3:2 Paul said ”Continue in prayer” In Eph 6:18 he said, ”Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the spirit, and watching thereunto with all perservance and supplication for all saints,” In Rom 12:12 we read ” Continuing instant in prayer.” ( Also read Mt 6:13)
Yes, we should ask God to give us strength to resist the devil.
We can resist the devil by flleing!
A long time ago the wise man said ”A wise man feareth, and departh from evil” ( Prov 14; 16 16;17 )
An outstanding example of one flleing from evilis Joseph, the son of Jacob. When Potiphar’s wife caught him by his garment saying, ”Lie with me,” he left his garment in her hand and fled, and got him out.” ( Gen 39:12 )
Paul admonishes us to ”Flee from idolatry.” and ”Flee fornication” (Cor 10: 14; 16-18).
When we are tempted to sin we should flee ( depart from ) the temptation.
Let us remember that James said ” Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” (4:7.)
Are you resisting the devil or are you allowing him to control your life?
